Brain Fog & Role of Diet.
“Where on earth have I put the keys?” – We all have had these moments! But at times constant forgetfulness can be signs of “brain fog”. Brain fog is a term used for certain symptoms that can affect your ability to think. You may feel confused or disorganized or find it hard to focus or put your thoughts into words.
There could be many medical reasons for brain fog, so it’s important to speak to your GP. However, once those are ruled out, it is certainly worth looking at your diet, too. Your brain works hard all day long, so we need to feed it well. Our diet can easily influence our emotions, ability to focus, energy levels, and so much more.
Here’s your brain-boosting diet strategy:
- Eat Omega 3 Fat: Fat is very good for your brain. In fact, 60% of your brain is the omega-3 fat DHA, which you can get from algae, fish and other plant sources such as chia seed, flaxseed, walnuts.
- Lots of colorful fruits & vegetables: These superfoods e.g. kale, spinach, berries come loaded with brain-boosting phytonutrients that are powerful anti-inflammatory.
- Limit exposure to food toxins: Eliminate refined sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fats, food additives and preservatives, which are toxic and disrupt your biochemistry. Most packaged snacks have these so make sure to read the label.
- Up your hydration: When you’re dehydrated, it can impact your attention span and cognitive ability. So make sure you are well hydrated.
